Associate Professor Wang Hongmei is a member of the Chinese Communist Party and serves as a master's thesis advisor at Wenzhou University. She has extensive academic and practical experience, particularly in the fields of comparative literature, cultural studies, the practice and research of translating traditional Chinese culture, and literary translation studies. She graduated with a Master's degree from Central South University in 2000 and earned a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Shanghai Normal University in 2015. She has also conducted research and academic exchanges as a visiting scholar at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Durham University in the UK, and the Monterey Institute of International Studies in the USA.
Professor Wang's research achievements are substantial, including numerous SCI and core journal papers, as well as the academic monograph The Devil Hero in Limbo: Humans, Demons, and Gods in 'Paradise Lost'. She places special emphasis on innovation in methodologies and techniques in translation studies, such as the deep GLR model for translating and recognizing long and short English sentences. Her contributions to children’s literature translation studies are also noteworthy. In addition, Professor Wang actively engages in educational reform, having led and completed several provincial and ministerial-level teaching research projects, including research on corpus-driven intelligent translation teaching models, continuously exploring and practicing new teaching methods and ideas.
Professor Wang also boasts significant achievements in translation practice. Over the years, she has participated in various translation projects at the university, provincial, and national levels, translating hundreds of thousands of words. She has been involved in significant translation projects such as the English versions of the Wenzhou Municipal Government’s official portal, Wenzhou People magazine, and other major translation projects that contribute significantly to spreading Chinese culture worldwide. Her translation work extends beyond texts to include materials for international cooperative education programs, such as the collaboration between Wenzhou University’s College of Art and Design and institutions in Italy.
